Behavioural Detection Agent

One of the specialised AI agents that make up GuardNet. Where the other agents ask what is in the picture, this one asks what is happening — a fight breaking out, someone loitering by a back door, a person running where nobody runs. It protects your staff and your customers, not just your stock.

Part of GuardNet, not a separate product

This agent runs inside the GuardNet desktop client, alongside the Common Detector for people and vehicles and the Fire & Smoke Detection Agent. There is nothing extra to install — GuardNet downloads it and its updates automatically. And like the rest of GuardNet it works entirely on your own Windows or Linux machine: your video never leaves the building, and there is no monthly cloud fee for watching your own property.

What it does

The agent follows people across the frame over time and reads the movement, not just the pose in a single image. It recognises three things:

Violence

Physical aggression between people — striking, grappling, a scuffle turning into a fight. The moment it is recognised, the event is marked on the live view, a snapshot is captured and the alarm goes out.

Abnormal behaviour

Movement that does not belong in the scene — loitering near an entrance or a till, running in a space where people normally walk, climbing a fence or a barrier. These are the minutes before an incident, not after it.

Position forecasting

From the path a person has already taken, the agent projects where they will be a few seconds from now. If that path leads into a restricted zone or across a virtual barrier, the alert can be raised before the line is crossed — while there is still time to respond.

What your business gets out of it

  • You find out during, not after. Most CCTV is reviewed the next day, when the only question left is who to blame. This agent turns the recording into a live alarm, so a manager or a security officer is on their way while the incident is still happening.
  • Your staff are protected. Lone workers, late shifts, tills, receptions and car parks are covered by something that never looks away — and never has to decide whether to press the panic button.
  • Trouble is caught before it starts. Loitering, running and climbing are the warning signs that precede theft, break-ins and assaults. Acting on those is far cheaper than dealing with what follows.
  • Fewer operators, more coverage. One person cannot meaningfully watch twenty screens. The agent watches all of them at once and only interrupts when something is wrong, so your existing team covers more ground without growing.
  • Alerts you can trust. The agent is trained on behaviour alone and judges movement over time rather than a single frame, so ordinary standing and walking do not trip it. Limit it to the zones and the hours that matter, and your team keeps taking the alarms seriously.
  • Evidence when you need it. Every event is stored in a searchable history with its image, timestamp and camera — ready for a police report, an insurance claim, an HR case or a licensing inspection.
  • Your footage stays yours. All processing happens on your premises. No video of your staff or customers is uploaded to a third-party cloud, which keeps you on the right side of GDPR.

How you control it

Enable the agent per camera, so entrances, tills and corridors watch for behaviour while other feeds watch for vehicles or fire. Restrict it to zones you draw on the live view, and combine it with virtual barrier lines for perimeter alerts. Set the hours it applies — for example people-detection only after closing time. Tune sensitivity and scan frequency per camera to balance responsiveness against CPU load. The GuardNet mobile app for iOS and Android gives you live views, the alarm history and remote control from anywhere.

Who it is for

Retail and hospitality — shops, bars and restaurants, where staff face aggression at the till or at closing time.
Public spaces and transport — stations, terminals and crowded areas that need a response in seconds, not a report in the morning.
Offices, schools and healthcare — reception areas, corridors and car parks where a duty of care applies to staff and visitors alike.
Perimeters and unmanned sites — depots, yards and construction sites, where climbing a fence at 3 a.m. is the only warning you are going to get.
