Weapons Detection Agent

One of the specialised AI agents that make up GuardNet. It watches the CCTV cameras you already own for a weapon in someone's hand, and puts the alarm in your hand in the seconds between a weapon appearing and it being used.

Part of GuardNet, not a separate product

This agent runs inside the GuardNet desktop client, alongside the Common Detector for people and vehicles, the Fire & Smoke Detection Agent and the Behavioural Detection Agent. There is nothing extra to install — GuardNet downloads it and its updates automatically. And like the rest of GuardNet it works entirely on your own Windows or Linux machine: your video never leaves the building, and there is no monthly cloud fee for watching your own property.

What it does

The agent analyses every camera stream in real time, marks what it finds on the live view, captures a snapshot of the moment and raises the alarm. It recognises four types of weapon:

  • Knife
  • Handgun
  • Rifle
  • Brass knuckles

The agent recognises a weapon that is visible to the camera — drawn, carried or held in the hand. It is not a metal detector and does not see through clothing or bags; its job is to make sure that the moment a weapon comes out, someone who can act knows about it.

What your business gets out of it

  • Seconds count. In an armed robbery or an attack, the time between the first sight of a weapon and the first call for help decides the outcome. The agent raises the alarm on that first sight — no one has to notice it on a screen, or be in a position to reach a phone.
  • Your staff are protected. Cashiers, receptionists, lone workers and night shifts are covered by something that never looks away, and the alert goes out without anyone having to press a panic button in front of an armed person.
  • Responders know what they are walking into. The push notification carries the snapshot, so security or the police know the type of weapon, the location and the camera before they arrive.
  • Cover you have already paid for. It uses your existing IP cameras and an ordinary PC. No scanners, no new hardware at the door, no wiring contractor.
  • Alarms you can trust. Trained on weapons alone. Limit it to the zones and the hours that matter — the entrance, the till, the car park — so your team keeps taking the alarm seriously.
  • Evidence when you need it. Every event is stored in a searchable history with its image, timestamp and camera — ready for a police report, an insurance claim or a court case.
  • Your footage stays yours. All processing happens on your premises. No video of your staff, customers or visitors is uploaded to a third-party cloud, which keeps you on the right side of GDPR.

How you control it

Enable the agent per camera, so entrances, tills and receptions watch for weapons while other feeds watch for vehicles or fire. Restrict it to zones you draw on the live view, and to the hours you choose. Combine it with the Behavioural Detection Agent to be warned both of a weapon and of the fight or threat around it. Tune sensitivity and scan frequency per camera to balance responsiveness against CPU load. The GuardNet mobile app for iOS and Android gives you live views, the alarm history and remote control from anywhere.

Who it is for

Retail, petrol stations and pharmacies — tills and counters, where armed robbery is a real risk and staff are often alone.
Banks, exchange offices and jewellers — premises that hold cash and valuables and need a response in seconds.
Schools, offices and healthcare — entrances, receptions and corridors where a duty of care applies to staff and visitors alike.
Bars, clubs and event venues — doors and crowded spaces, where a knife or a set of brass knuckles turns an argument into an emergency.
Any business that wants to know about a weapon the moment it appears, not from the recording afterwards.
